About Dr Felicity Marcus

Dr Felicity Dawn Marcus is an experienced psychiatrist who is able to manage a broad range of mental health illnesses. She has a keen interest in treating patients suffering from eating disorders as well as adolescent mental health. Dr Marcus received her degree in medicine from The University of the Witwatersrand in 2013 and began her medical career working as an intern at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital. She went on to work as a medical officer at Tara Hospital, where she developed a passion for the field of psychiatry. As a registrar, she rotated through various psychiatric units which allowed her the experience of treating a broad range of psychiatric pathologies.

Following the completion of her specialization, she was the head of the Tara eating disorder unit for a number of years. She is now based at The Oxford Healthcare Centre and continues her work in private practice.

Dr Marcus has a compassionate approach to treating her patients and is dedicated to helping them overcome their challenges and achieve lasting recovery.

Dr Marcus has spoken at numerous conferences, workshops and on various radio stations to help educate and create awareness of mental health. She is a firm believer that there is no health without mental health.

Achievements

Dr Marcus is a published author and her research into the voting rights of mental health care users was featured in the South African Journal of Psychiatry – Click here to read the publication.

Dr Marcus was also awarded 2nd place for her research poster the Wits University School of Medicine Biannual Research Day in 2019.
